The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (Jan 4) issued a weather forecast, warning of a mild cold wave sweeping over the Panchagarh district, which may persist for the next few days.

It also predicted moderate to dense fog across the country from midnight tonight through tomorrow morning, with conditions possibly continuing until noon at some locations.

The fog is expected to temporarily disrupt air navigation, inland river transport, and road communications.

The BMD also indicated that, while the weather will remain generally dry with occasional partly cloudy skies, cold feelings may persist in several areas during the daytime due to the dense fog.

Night temperatures are expected to rise slightly, while day temperatures may increase by 1-2°C.

The lowest temperature recorded on Friday was 9.4°C in Tetulia, Rangpur Division, and the highest recorded this morning was 28.2°C.

In the capital, Dhaka, the sun will set at 5:25 PM today and rise at 6:43 AM tomorrow.

Looking ahead, the BMD forecasts light rain or drizzle in the northern regions at the start of the next five-day period, with a drop in night temperatures expected towards the end.
