Police arrested three members of a robbery gang in Dhaka's Darussalam area while they were preparing for a robbery. 

The arrestees were identified as Md. Sabbir Hossain, 21, Md. Rabbi Howlader, 20, and Md. Sabuj Hossain, 20.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division confirmed the matter on Sunday (January 5).

He said they were arrested on Saturday, around 10:45 PM during a raid in the Dipnagar BGB Market area. 

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted the operation and caught the trio red-handed as they attempted to flee. However, 4-5 other accomplices managed to escape, he said.

Police recovered a sharp steel machete, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw used for their robbery activities, and two rolls of scotch tape from the scene, he said. 

A case has been filed against the three detainees and their unidentified associates at Darussalam Police Station, the official added.
