DHAKA: Housing and Public Works Ministry will sell flats instead of plots for government officials and people of medium incomes in Lalmatia area of the city.

Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain made the disclosure after visiting the construction site at 11:00am on Wednesday.

One hundred and 78 flats, with modern facilities, will be sold to the government officials and people of medium incomes.

The minister said that, due to the limited space in city and growing number of population, the government has showed its interest to flats rather than plots.

He also said the government would take initiatives to build high-rise place of the small ones to provide more accommodations.

For government officials a 1250-squre foot flat (with lift and lobby) is priced at Tk 61.4 lakh, a 1060-squre foot flat (with lift and lobby) is priced at Tk 53.31 lakh.
