JOYPURHAT: A polling officer died of heart attack while he was discharging duty at vote center of Bottoli high school in Khetlal upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Polash Chandra Mohanta, 30, son of Ajit Chandra Mohanto, also assistant teacher of Ruar government primary school of the upazila.

The incident took place around 8:45am.  

On-duty sub-inspector Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Locals said the polling officer felt pain in the chest suddenly and he fell down on the ground. Later, he was rushed to local health complex where doctor declared him dead.
