A man was killed over a land dispute in Tarakandi Paschimpara area of Pogaldigha Union under Sarishabari upazila, Jamalpur, on Friday afternoon. 

The deceased Ataur Rahman Bipul’s, 50, right hand and leg were severed during the attack.

The deceased was the son of Anwar Hossain alias Kalu Talukder of Tarakandi village. 

The incident began with a quarrel over cutting boundary trees between Bipul and Anwara Begum, the mother of a local named Apel. After that, Apel reportedly summoned outsiders armed with sharp weapons to launch a sudden attack on Bipul and his family.

Sarishabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Chand Mia confirmed the matter.

He said the body has been recovered and taken to the police station. 

A case is being prepared, and one person has been detained in connection with the attack, he added.
