A metropolitan magistrate court today ordered the detention of Md Matiur Rahman, a former member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), in connection with an arms case filed by Vatara Thana police.
Matiur was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police on January 15 from a residence, where a firearm was recovered from his possession.
Following the completion of his three-day remand, Sub-Inspector Belal Hossain of the DB presented Rahman before the court, requesting continued detention until the investigation concludes. After hearing the prosecution's arguments, Magistrate Naznin Akhter sent Rahman to jail custody.
The arms case remains under investigation.
