A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a sand-laden pickup van in Bagadi Union of Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Friday (January 31).

The accident happened near the Chourasta Bridge on the Chandpur-Faridganj road around 11:30 am.

The deceased Nurul Islam Nuru Bhuiyan, 45, was a resident of Azim Bhuiyan Bari in Sholdana village under West Gupti Union of Faridganj Upazila.

According to Ibrahim Khalil, a relative of the deceased said Nurul Islam had left home in the morning to visit a doctor in Chandpur town. As he was passing through Bagadi Chourasta, the pickup van hit his motorcycle, killing him instantly. Family members later arrived and identified the body.

Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bahar Mia confirmed the matter.

He said the police reached the scene quickly after receiving the report. 

Police conducted an initial investigation, seized the pickup van, and arrested the driver, he said, adding legal action will be taken regarding the incident.
