No public transport in Ijtema area after midnight

The Akheri Munajat for the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to 9:30 am tomorrow (Feb 2).

In preparation for the event, public transportation in the Tongi area will be suspended from midnight on Saturday, said Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan.

He shared this update during a press conference at the Bishwa Ijtema control room on Saturday morning.

He said that from midnight, vehicular movement will be restricted on Tongi-Kamarpara Road, the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway from Tongi to Bhogra Bypass in Gazipur, and the road from Abdullahpur to Baipail in Ashulia.

Vehicles traveling toward Mymensingh and Gazipur will be rerouted through Konabari via Gabtoli, while those coming to Dhaka from Mymensingh will be directed to use the 300 Feet Road via Bhogra Bypass.

During this period, no freight vehicles or non-Ijtema transport will be allowed on these roads. However, Ijtema-related vehicles will operate as usual.

The GMP Commissioner further confirmed that discussions had taken place with Ijtema elders, who confirmed that the Akheri Munajat would occur between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM on Sunday.

Dr. Khan assured that top-level security measures had been implemented to prevent any incidents, expressing confidence that the event would proceed smoothly without any disorder.

Maulana Zubair Ahmed, senior leader of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh and Imam of Kakrail Jame Mosque, will lead the Akheri Munajat.
