A joint force team has rescued seven abducted workers from the Lulaing area of Sarai Union in Lama Upazila in Bandarban.
The rescue operation took place around 8:30 pm on Monday (February 3).
The freed workers have been identified as Md. Nuru (50), Md. Alamgir (35), Md. Shafi Alam (32), Md. Helal (40), and Md. Jamal (32). The identities of the remaining two workers are yet to be confirmed.
According to police and local sources, armed assailants kidnapped the workers from the Lulaing area in the early hours of Saturday (February 1).
In response, the joint force launched an extensive rescue operation, which led to their safe recovery.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Atiqur Rahman, in charge of the Keyajupara police outpost in Sarai Union, confirmed that the rescued workers have been reunited with their families under the custody of the plantation owner.
He assured that all of them are in good health.
This is the second such incident in the area in recent weeks. On January 14, a similar abduction took place when seven workers were kidnapped from the same location.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further incidents in the region, the SI added.
