Three people were killed after a pickup van carrying cucumbers fell into a ditch in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur early Wednesday (Feb 5).

The accident took place around 5:00 am on the Joydebpur-Itakhola road.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.

Kaliganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sushanto Chandra Sarkar confirmed the matter.

He said the pickup van, which was heading to Joydebpur from Narsingdi, lost control and veered off the road, falling into a nearby ditch. Three people died on the spot.

Police visited the scene and recovered the bodies, he added.
