A total of 14 distinguished individuals and one organization have been awarded the Ekushey Padak 2025 for their contributions in various fields. This year, the Bangladesh National Women's Football Team has been selected for the prestigious award.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced the names of the awardees on Thursday, with Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki making the official declaration.
The recipients of the Ekushey Padak 2025 are:
- Arts (Film): Azizur Rahman (posthumous)
- Arts (Music): Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumous), Ferdous Ara
- Arts (Photography): Nasir Ali Mamun
- Arts (Painting): Rokeya Sultana
- Journalism: Mahfuz Ullah (posthumous), Mahmudur Rahman (also for human rights)
- Culture & Education: Dr. Shahidul Alam
- Education: Dr. Niaz Zaman
- Science & Technology: Mehedi Hasan Khan
- Social Service: Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumous)
- Language & Literature: Helal Hafiz (posthumous), Shahidul Zahir (Md. Shahidul Haque, posthumous)
- Research: Moeedul Hasan
Each recipient will receive a 35-gram gold medal, a certificate of honor, and a cash prize of Tk 400,000.
Since 1976, the Ekushey Padak has been awarded to distinguished writers, artists, educators, language movement veterans, linguists, researchers, journalists, economists, and social activists for their outstanding contributions at the national level. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs selects the recipients for this prestigious award.
