Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today (Feb 9) said that the countrywide crackdown, Operation Devil Hunt, will continue until all threats to the nation's stability are eliminated.
He made the remarks while talking to reporters after inaugurating the newly-built "Mrittika Bhaban" at the Soil Resource Development Institute in Khamarbari area of the city.
He assured the public that many suspects involved in the violent attacks on students and citizens in Gazipur have already been arrested, and more are expected to be detained soon.
The operation was launched following a violent assault on students at the residence of former minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Friday night.
Joint forces have made significant progress, with 40 arrests so far, including suspected members of the Awami League, according to Gazipur Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Jaber Sadek.
Jahangir Alam also commented on the arrests of five senior police officers, stressing that the public is aware of the nature of their crimes.
