JAGANNATH UNIVERSITY: The agitating students of Jagannath University (JnU) will besiege the Bangladesh Bank Sadarghat Branch on Tuesday as the bank was built on JU 38 decimals land.                      

JnU dormitories recovery movement association convener Shariful Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews on Monday.     

The university authorities asked the Bangladesh Bank to shift the branch of the bank when Jagannath College turned into university but they are yet to respond.  

On November 1, 2004, some high officials of the government visited the bank area and later in a recommendation they suggested that Bangladesh Bank authority should get back the land to Jagannath University.   

Later in 2008, the then deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank Morshid Kuli Khan said Bangladesh Bank would shift the branch if government directs in this regard.   

After 2008, many incidents happened to shift the bank branch but no result came out yet.   

However, Shariful insisted that they would continue the movement until the demand is met.
