The first meeting of the newly formed National Consensus Commission with political parties commenced this afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
A delegation from the BNP, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, is among the participants, alongside representatives from other political parties.
The interim government established the seven-member commission on Thursday, tasked with engaging political parties to discuss recommendations from six reform commissions focusing on political, constitutional, and electoral changes.
The commission’s members include experts heading various reform commissions, such as Prof. Ali Riaz for constitutional reforms, Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury for public administration, and others.
The National Consensus Commission aims to build consensus on these reforms during its six-month tenure. The Chief Adviser’s Office is providing secretarial services to the commission.
