The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today reinstated a High Court verdict that declared the cancellation of the first viva voce results of the 27th BCS exams illegal and directed the appointment of 1,137 qualified candidates.
A full bench of the apex court, led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, delivered the verdict after hearing arguments on the review petitions.
The Public Service Commission had canceled the viva results on September 1, 2007, during the caretaker government’s tenure, citing irregularities and corruption.
The High Court declared the cancellation illegal on July 3, 2008.
