Man killed in Kuliarchar

A businessman was killed by unidentified assailants in Kuliarchar upazila, with his throat slit on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ubaydul Haque Pilot, 40.

The incident happened around 10 PM in the West Tarakandi area on the Bajra Bus Stand-Kamalpur New Bazar Road.

Ubaydul Haque Pilot, the son of the late Jamal Uddin from the Bajra-Machimpur area, was a rice trader at the local Bajra Bus Stand.

According to local sources, Pilot was returning home on his motorcycle after leaving his shop when the attackers ambushed him. They slit his throat and left his body by the roadside. Passersby noticed the body and alerted the police. Authorities recovered the body and took it to the police station.

Kuliarchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Helal Uddin confirmed the matter.

The body was sent for autopsy at Kishoreganj Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College and Hospital, he said, adding legal actions are underway in connection with the case.
