RANGAMATI: A police constable was shot dead by his colleague in Baghaihat outpost of Sajek Thana under Baghaichari Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Anwar, 24, constable of Bangladesh Police.

Police sources said that Anwar and his colleague Muktadir locked into an altercation around 9:30am over a trifling matter. At one stage, Muktadir fired five-round bullets aiming Anwar, leaving him critically injured.

Later, bullet-wounded Anwar rushed to Dighinala Army Zone in Khagrachhari and then shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Chittagong by helicopter where he succumbed to his injuries around 12:45pm.

Rangamati Police Super Amena Begum confirmed the matter to banglanews.
