Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has recovered Tk 2.5 crore from the residence of former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), retired Lieutenant General Saiful Alam.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to journalists on Sunday (March 2) afternoon.
He said the commission was conducting an investigation against the former official. Acting on a tip-off, ACC, with the help of intelligence agencies and joint forces, seized around Tk 2.45 crore from his residence in Dhaka Cantonment on February 27.
According to ACC sources, the raid was conducted at his residence from 11 pm to 3 am on Thursday, recovering the cash. However, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not made any official statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of Bangladesh Bank has frozen the bank accounts of Saiful Alam, his wife, children, and their business entities.
