DHAKA: Two policemen were injured in a cocktail explosion by muggers at Lalbagh Fort intersection of the capital early Thursday.

The injured cops are Lalbagh thana assistant sub-inspector Kazi Tayib, 35, Constable Kamal, 30.

Lalbagh thana sub-inspector Mojibar Rahman told banglanews that some of three to four muggers took position at the Lalbagh Fort intersection. Sensing the presence of police, they tried to flee the spot. Police chase the gang and caught one mugger.

To get release from the police, the mugger hurled cocktail, two policemen injured.

Police, however, nabbed a mugger named Al-Amin, 25, from the spot, he added.

Kazi Tayib, who received injury in his wrist, was sent to Pangu Hospital while Kamal was given first aid.
