5 killed in B’baria road crash

BRAHMANBARIA: Five people, including four of a family, were killed as a private car and CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on at Sarail upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Ekhlasur Rahman, 45, physician of B’baria Sadar Hospital, his wife Marium Begum, their two sons—Tahsin, 4, and 3-month baby—and the auto-rickshaw driver.

Sources said a Dhaka-bound private car collided head on with auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction near Jilani Filling Station on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shahbazpur area around 3:00pm, leaving three people dead on the spot and three others injured critically.

The fatally injured succumbed to their injuries on way to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.

In-Charge of Sarail Highway Police Outpost Sergeant Abdur Nur confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The other injured was admitted to the hospital, he added.
