DHAKA: The hearing of contempt of court rule issued by the High Court against Editor Matiur Rahman and joint editor Mizanur Rahman Khan of Bangla daily ‘Prothom Alo’ for publishing columns in the daily started on Thursday.

An HC bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Jafar Ahmed fixed Sunday as the date of hearing again.

The court ordered the Prothom Alo authority to explain within next Monday.

Eminent lawyer Dr Shahdin Malik moved for the Prothom Alo in the court while Barrister Rafiq Ul Haque, Barrister Rokn Uddin Mahmud, Barrister Azmalul Haque and Advocate Joynul Abedin moved for the state.

During the time, joint editor of Prothom Alo Mizanur Rahman Khan was present in the court.

On March 2, in the suo-moto rule, the HC issued a contempt of court rule against ‘Prothom Alo’ Editor Matiur Rahman and joint editor Mizanur Rahman Khan through publishing columns in the daily on February 28 and March 1.
