Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Baharul Alam today (March 13) said a certain group is actively attempting to destabilize the law and order situation, including in the industrial sector. 

The police would resist such attempts with a strong hand, he said during a press briefing at the Police Superintendent's office in Gazipur’s Industrial Sector-2.

The IGP said that the government is working towards creating a Bangladesh free from discrimination, but there are forces determined to thwart this goal by destabilizing the law enforcement agencies.

The IGP also clarified that the police force is not aligned with any political party. 

He said police force doesn’t understand who is BNP or Awami League. In the past, the police had served political parties’ interests, even at the expense of the people.

He also noted that the police had previously sacrificed their lives due to the mistakes of political leaders and their unchecked ambitions.
