Cop-RMG workers clash in Mirpur

DHAKA: Hundreds of readymade garment workers are staging demonstration from Saturday morning demanding their salary following sudden declaration of the factory shut.  

Earlier, the authority of Softex Garment Factory declared shut the factory on Friday mentioning that BUET engineers detected security problem in the building.

Following the incident, hundreds of workers of the factory thronged in front of their factory and started protest demonstration at 10:45am demanding three-month salary.

At one stage of protest, police chased the workers to remove them from street and being obstructed, workers hurled brick-chips aiming police that prompted a clash.

During the time, agitating workers vandalized some vehicles of Bihongo, Silk City Poribahans.

Two armored cars of police were seen in the spot to avert untoward situation.

Pallabi thana sub-inspector Mahbub Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Workers also staged protest program to realize their demand.

Demonstrating workers alleged that without any notice and paying salary, the owner declared shut the factory.
