A court in Dhaka today placed former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on a four-day remand and former officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan on a two-day remand in two separate killing cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the orders this noon. The court also showed Mamun arrested in four murder and murder attempt case.
Mamun was remanded in connection with the murder of Md Sayem Hossain, who was shot dead during an anti-discrimination student movement rally on July 19, 2024, near Hanif Flyover Toll Plaza in Jatrabari.
Sayem's mother, Sheuli Akter, filed the case on August 27.
Meanwhile, Abul Hasan is remanded in the killing of Russel Bakaul, who was shot during a police firing in front of the Jatrabari Police Station on August 5, 2024.
