Myanmar citizens must return home

DHAKA: Myanmar citizens, who took shelter in Bangladesh, have to return to their homeland, said Iyad Ameen Madani, secretary general of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Madani said on Sunday morning at a meeting with foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and foreign secretary Shahidul Haque.

Foreign secretary told media that they have talked about Rohingya issue. Showing his interest the OIC secretary general said that the organization expects a rapid solution of this issue.

The OIC official commented that the citizens of Myanmar have to return to their homeland, foreign secretary added.

The OIC secretary general has assured cooperation to Bangladesh in several fields including socio-economical development, poverty eradication and women empowerment.

Madani arrived in Dhaka early Sunday on a three-day visit to the country.

Born in Makkah, Iyad Ameen Madani took office as the tenth secretary general of OIC in January.
