DHAKA: The High Court on Monday rejected bail petition filed by three accused in killing of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

A HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Jafar Ahmed passed the order after hearing.

The three accused Bakul Mia, Rafiqul Islam and Kamrul Islam.

RAB ASP Jafarullah, also Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the probe report before the High Court.

On February, the High Court summoned the also Investigation Officer of the case and asked to place process report of the investigation.

SM Mahmud Hossain Dolon stood for the accused.

On February 11 on 2012, Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and ATN Bangla Senior Reporter Meherun Runi were stabbed to death in the bedroom of their apartment in west Razabazaar area of the capital.

After the police failed to reach any advancement in the case, the High Court asked the Rapid Action Battalion to take over the probe after two months.
