DHAKA: Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad is set to arrive in Dhaka on March 15 on a two-day visit.

He will attend the convocation of University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) as a distinguished speaker.

Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid, also chancellor of the university, will preside over the convocation.

During Mahathir`s tenure as Prime Minister, Malaysia experienced a period rapid modernisation and economic growth, and his government initiated a series of bold infrastructure projects.

He was a dominant political figure, winning five consecutive general elections and holding off all of his rivals for the leadership of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO).
