A total of Tk 3,38,52,900 was collected as toll at the Jamuna Bridge in the last 24 hours till midnight on Friday, as 48,355 vehicles crossed the bridge, official sources reported.
Thousands of North Bengal-bound passengers traveled through the bridge to celebrate Eid with their families.
Despite the high volume of vehicles, there was no major congestion on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge Highway.
Passengers, however, complained about increased fares and a shortage of public transport, forcing many to board trucks and pickups.
To ease traffic flow, 18 toll booths were operational, along with four separate booths for motorcycles, which saw 9,163 crossings during this period.
Meanwhile, 750 police personnel, including mobile and motorcycle teams, have been deployed along the highway to ensure smooth traffic movement despite the intense heat, said Tangail SP Mizanur Rahman.
