Slum dwellers’ attack hurts 5 Ansar men

DHAKA: Five Ansar members were injured as slum dwellers of city’s Banani area attacked them after being protested from establishing illegal settlements on Monday.

The injured Ansar members are Shimul Chandra, Saiful Islam, Abdul Aziz, Shahidul Islam and M Firoz.

One of the victims, Saiful Islam, said that the slum dwellers locked into a clash with the law enforcers in the area around 9:00am when Ansar men obstructed them to set up illegal settlements at the government land.

At one stage, the agitated slum dwellers threw brick-chips aiming Ansar men, leaving five of them injured critically.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Banani Thana Mahbub Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
