CHITTAGONG: Four female ready made garments workers were killed and at least 10 others injured in an accident in Chandgaon Thana of the port city on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Yasmin Akhter, 19, Julia Akhter, 30, Ria, 20 and Sweety Akhter 20.

Of the injured, six were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (North) Harunur Rashid confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Witnesses said a minibus knocked against a moving train as the bus driver lost control over the steering at the outer signal area in Chandgaon of the port city around 8:30am, leaving four dead on the spot and at least 10 others injured.

Police arrested the bus driver from the spot, Commissioner Harunur Rashid added.

Eastern railway formed a 5-member divisional probe committee in this connection, he added.
