Pakistan seeks to elevate ties with Bangladesh: Syed Maroof

Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Syed Ahmed Maroof has expressed his country’s commitment to strengthening relations with Dhaka, highlighting shared cultural and historical bonds between the two nations.

“Pakistan and Bangladesh have shared interests, and together we will develop our bilateral relations,” Maroof said. “We are taking our relationship to new heights and working to enhance people-to-people connectivity.”

He made the remarks on Sunday evening during a reception hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka to mark Pakistan’s National Day. The event was held at the Le Méridien Hotel in the capital.

The reception drew foreign envoys from countries including the United Kingdom, China, and Singapore. However, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh was notably absent.

During his address, Maroof paid tribute to Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq and acknowledged the contributions of Pakistan’s founding fathers. He voiced optimism about the future of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, expressing hope for deeper engagement in the years ahead.

The evening featured traditional cuisine, cultural displays, and interaction among members of the diplomatic corps and local guests.
