Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch is set to arrive in Dhaka today (16 April) to attend a bilateral meeting with her Bangladeshi counterpart.
The Foreign Secretary-level talks will take place tomorrow (17 April) at the State Guest House Padma.
Bangladesh will be represented by Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin.
The two sides are expected to discuss a range of issues, including trade, investment, defence cooperation, agriculture, aviation, and information and communication technology. Bangladesh’s outstanding debts with Pakistan may also feature in the talks.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, said Islamabad is keen to boost trade ties with Dhaka, identifying cotton as a key export item.
Later this month, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Dhaka—marking the first trip by a Pakistani foreign minister to Bangladesh since 2012.
