Two killed as truck hits parked truck in Noakhali

Two people were killed and another injured when a truck rammed into a stationary another truck in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali early Wednesday (April 16).

The accident occurred around 4am on the Noakhali-Lakshmipur highway, in front of Jalal’s garage in the Nazirpur area.

The deceased were identified as Md Sajeeb, 18, son of Jasim Uddin from Fazilpur, and Shakib, 20, son of Shah Alam from Kendurbag—both residents of Begumganj union.

Locals said a sand-laden truck from Lakshmipur was heading towards Chaumuhani when it collided with another parked drum truck carrying sand. The impact severely damaged the front section of the moving vehicle, leaving the truck’s helper, Sajeeb, and the driver’s companion, Shakib, critically injured.

Rescuers from Chandraganj Highway Police and the Chaumuhani Fire Service arrived at the scene and extracted the victims. They were taken to Begumganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead. The driver reportedly fled the scene with injuries.

Chandraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ruhul Amin confirmed the matter.

He said police recovered the bodies and launched an investigation. Legal proceedings are underway.
