Banglalink initiates environment awareness prog

DHAKA: Banglalink, the country’s one of the largest mobile operators, has initiated an environmental awareness program titled ‘Keeping it Clean’.

The first execution of this awareness program was carried out at ‘Minnoth Ali Government Primary School’ in Savar recently.

A group of employees from Banglalink HR & Admin department were engaged directly in this activity, said a press release.

The demonstration was done through a short customized animated cartoon show to make the lesson interesting and make it easy to understand for the children.

Litter bins were handed over to the authorities of the school to help them keep their premises clean and litter free later on.

A role playing session was conducted after the awareness session, where students were shown how to clean up the school premises. School bags made of used billboard banner (PVC vinyl) were also distributed amongst the children of the school.

The school authorities greatly appreciated this initiative taken by Banglalink and the children were delighted to be a part of this event, the release added.

According to the release, this awareness project will also include similar activities and engagements to be carried out in the other regions including Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Bogra within this year.

This would be planned in line with another innovative CSR project titled ‘Banglalink Recycled School Bag Distribution Project’.

‘Such initiatives will help future generations become more responsible towards their environment’, said Ziad Shatara, CEO of Banglalink.

He also mentioned that Banglalink has been very keen to such new initiatives and believes in changing our lives through starting something new.

Banglalink is the 2nd largest mobile telecom operator in Bangladesh, with around 29 million subscribers, and a subsidiary of Netherlands based Vimpelcom Ltd.
