Remittance inflow reaches $2.27b in April

Bangladesh received $2.27 billion (Tk 27,933 crore) in remittance through banking channels in the first 26 days of April, according to Bangladesh Bank report on Sunday (April 27).

On average, $87.35 million in remittance came daily during the period.

According to Bangladesh Bank, $853.8 million came through state-owned banks, while specialized agricultural banks brought in $119.41 million. Private commercial banks received $1.29 billion, and foreign banks handled $4.27 million in remittance.

No remittance was received through Bangladesh Development Bank, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, ICB Islamic Bank, and Padma Bank. Additionally, foreign banks such as Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, and State Bank of India did not report any remittance inflow.

Among individual banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited received the highest remittance amount, handling $356.89 million during the 26-day period.
