MONGLA (BAGERHAT): A four-year-old child was killed by a bullet from her father’s pistol while she was playing with the arm in Mongla upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Prity Izarader, 4, daughter of one Palas Izarader, hailed from the area.

Local sources said Palas Izarader fell asleep keeping his licensed pistol by his pillow on Sunday night.

Noticing the pistol, Prity started playing with it on Monday morning. Later, family members suddenly heard a firing sound and Prity sustained a bullet injury, leaving her dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Mongla Thana Aminul Islam told banglanews that they sent the body to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
