DHAKA: The government should control bribe/corruption in power generation and supply sector instead of price hike.
Moniruzzaman Monir came up with the suggestion taking part in public opinion program on ‘Power Price Hike’ arranged by banglanews.
The conscious consumer of power said, “If the government mitigates system loss then it will be fruitful than price hike.”
“I think it is not justified at all. We the poor consumers are over loaded,” he added.
The reader also requested the media to take steps to stop such kind of injustice to us.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the retail power tariff by 6.96% per unit (kilowatt-hour) on an average, with the price rising from Tk5.75 to Tk6.15; a price hike of Tk0.40.
The new tariff – which was announced without introducing any subsidy – will come into effect from the current billing month.
