A man and his two sons were killed in a road accident in Basail upazila of Tangail district today June 3) while travelling home for Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.
The collision occurred around 9:00 am on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge Highway in the Karati bypass area.
The victims were identified as Amjad Hossain, 40, and his two sons — Ratul, 14, and Atul, whose age was not immediately confirmed.
The family was en route from Dhaka to their ancestral home in Sherpur in a microbus when the vehicle rammed into a stationary truck on the roadside.
“All three died on the spot,” Basail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jalal Uddin told reporters. “Three other passengers were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”
Police seized both the microbus and the truck involved in the accident. It remains unclear why the truck was parked on the highway without apparent warning signs, according to them.
