RAJSHAHI: The indefinite transport strike is underway in the district on Thursday demanding unconditional release of five tuck drivers.
The strike has begun from 6:00am which pushed thousands of passengers into immense sufferings.
On the other hand, Rajshahi trains saw pressures of a huge number of passengers as vehicular movement halted in highways.
Besides, some passengers are using microbus, CNG-run vehicles and human hauler to go to their destination due to train ticket crisis.
Rajshahi Motor Sramik Union president Kamal Hossain Robi told banglanews, “As we did not get any response from local administration so we called transport strike for an indefinite period.”
Following the matter, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mejbah Uddin said that a misunderstanding with transport workers created the deadlock situation. Necessary steps will be taken in this regard.
Earlier on 11 March, a mobile court sent two managers of Balu Mahal and five truck drivers to jail for one month for illegal sand extraction from the Padma River.
