Trader’s throat-slit body recovered from Gaibandha

Members of police recovered the throat slit body of a local businessman in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Friday morning (June 13).

The victim was identified as Abdul Khalek Mia, 35. He was a resident of Haripur village under Horirampur Union and the son of Mohammad Ali.

The body was recovered from a garden near Krishi Bank in the Nakaihat area, beside the Gaibandha-Nakaihat-Gobindaganj road.

According to locals Abdul Khalek had been involved in betel leaf trading for a long time. Upon discovering the body, they informed police, who quickly reached the scene.

Family members said Khalek went to the local market as usual on Thursday but did not return home at night. They began searching for him, and his body was found the next morning near Nakaihat Bazar.

Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bulbul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said an investigation is underway. A crime team from Rangpur will assist in the case. The body has been sent for autopsy and will be handed over to the family afterwards. A case is being prepared.
