6 awarded life-term in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: A speedy trial tribunal on Thursday awarded life term rigorous imprisonment to six people in a case of killing a housewife in the city.   

The court also fined Tk 5,000 each, in default, they have to serve more six months jail.    

The convicts are Selim Hossain, Mizan, Raihan Ali, Humaiyun, Rezaul Islam and Ainul Haque.                      

Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Shamsul Alam Khan passed the order in a crowded court in presence of the convicts.    

The court also sentenced 10 accused in three years imprisonment in the same case and acquitted 13 others from the case as they were not found guilty. 

The case statement reads: On July 25, 2010, housewife Halima was beaten to death by the convicts over land dispute. 

Later, victim’s elder brother filed a murder case with Godagari Police Station against them.
