COX’S BAZAR: A yaba trader was killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel in Jaliardia area at Teknaf upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Nur Mohammad, son of late Abul Kashem of Hrila union of the upazila.

Camp In-Charge of the RAB-7 Major Kazi Rashedul Alam told banglanews that RAB personnel went to Shrimp Farm area of Nur Mohammad getting information of smuggling yaba and Nur opened fire targeting RAB.

RAB also opened fire that left Nur Mohammad bullet wounded. He was rushed to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared him dead. They also recovered a local LG gun, a foreign pistol and 3000 pieces yaba, he added.

Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Thana Ranjit Kumar Barua confirmed the matter to banglanews.
