Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has formed a separate High Court bench to ensure speedy hearings and disposal of long-pending Waqf cases.
The two-member bench, comprising Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal and Justice Md Mansur Alam, will begin hearings from 10:30 am on June 29, focusing on Waqf-related matters, liberation war affairs, and income tax writ motions, according to a Supreme Court notice.
The move follows a request from Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, highlighting the backlog of Waqf cases disrupting estate management.
The Religious Affairs Ministry noted that resolving these cases will restore order and boost the efficiency of Waqf administration.
