DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) postponed voting in 32 polling centres in different upazilas on allegation of snatching of ballot boxes and stray violence.

Election Commissioner Abdul Mobarak made the disclosure in a press conference at EC secretariat on Sunday afternoon.

Postponed centers are Baghmara Government Primary School and Purba Nalua Government Primary School of Barura upazila under Comilla, Purba Marichbunia Darus-Sannat Dakhil Madrasa and Balaikathi Registered Government Primary School of Patuakhali Sadar, Amrail Government Primary School of Dhamrai under Dhaka district, Dr. A. Gaffar School, Alipur Government Primary School, Paikharpar Government Primary School and Baghaiakandi Government Primary School of Baliakandi under Munshiganj.

Earlier, voting in 91 upazilas of 43 districts began on Sunday morning in the fourth phase of fourth upazila polls of the country under tight security.

Election Commission (EC) sources said that some 1,277 candidates took part in the upazila polls.

The voting started from 8:00am and continued till 4:00pm at a stretch.
