RAJBARI: Two people, a leader of ruling Awami League, were shot to death by unidentified assailants at Machpara union under Pangsha upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Mahbbat Hossain Dulal Khandakar, 52, Khoksha thana AL assistant general secretary and Firoz Mahbub Kamal, 50, son of late Nurul Islam, hailed from Khoksha upazila of Kushtia.

Quoting family members, Pangsha thana officer-in-charge Abul Bashar told banglanews that a microbus with some miscreants intercepted motorbike of Dulal and Firoz around 12:30am and kidnapped them while they were returning home from Khoksha Bazar.

Later, being informed from locals, police recovered their bodies from the place adjacent to Machhpara Bus Stand around 8:00am Monday.

The process is underway to send the bodies to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue.
