CHITTAGONG: A girl was killed and 14 others were injured in an electrocution in Mew Market area of the port city on Monday afternoon.
Of them, four people--Amena Khatun, Bilkis Begum, Abdus Sattar and Jahangir--were injured critically, said a doctor of Chittagong Medical College Hospial.
The deceased was identified as Parul Akhter, 23, a construction worker.
Local sources said an electric cable had torn in the port city’s New Market area around 5:00pm, leaving 15 people injured.
They added that eight of them were rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital immediately.
CMCH Police Camp-in-Charge Zahirul Islam told banglanews that Parul died at the hospital.
One of the victims—Jasim--said they were working in the New Market enhancement project. Some 18 workers were there and three of them were working at another portion of the market.
Suddenly an electric cable of 11,000 volt had torn upon them, he added.
