DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury paid tributes to the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Wednesday morning on the occasion of Independence Day.

In the first hour of the Independence Day, the premier and the speaker placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Complex at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the city around 7:00am separately.

Later, leaders and activists of Dhaka City Awami League, Mohila Awami League, Chattra League, Juba League Swechhasebok League, Sromik League and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and different social, political and cultural organastions paid tribute to Bangabandhu.

The cabinet members and senior leaders of AL were present there.
