DHAKA: Hundreds of thousands people thronged the thoroughfares of the city to the National Parade Ground at Tejgaon on Wednesday morning.
All merged with red and green holding replica of national flag on hands, came for “Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla” to sing “Amar Sonar Bangla” together.
They are aimed to make history, set a new official world record for the largest population, to sing the national anthem together.
People from all walks of life – students, teachers, doctors, professionals, garment workers, laborers and government officials, are taking part the event.
People from hundreds of social, political and cultural organizations, educational institutions, garment factories joined in there spontaneously.
All entrances of the ground were closed at 9:00am around one and half-a-hour before as the ground were fully packed with the expected participants, an approximate 3 lakhs people.
Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina, all ministers and high officials of government and armed forces are expected to tune the national anthem together there.
Bangladesh is ready to set a record in the Guinness Book by arranging the singing of the national anthem by 300,000 people.
Bangladesh is just a few hours away from surpassing that feat by getting a far larger body of people to sing the Bangladesh national anthem ‘Amar Sonar Bangla Ami Tomai Bhalobashi’ (My Golden Bengal, I Love You).
Ministry of Cultural Affairs with the cooperation of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division are going to organize the “Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla” event at the National Parade Square to mark the Independence Day with a possible participation of 3 lakhs people to set a new official world record for the largest population to sing the national anthem together.
