Mufti Izhar warranted

CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court issued arrest warrant against Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefajat-e-Islam in a case filed in connection with an explosion at Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa.

Chittagong Additional Session Judge Court-2 Judge SM Abdur Rashid passed the order on Thursday.

The court also fixed April 6 for charge framing hearing in the case.

Mufti Izhar was in interim bail. As Izharul did not appear before the court after submission of charge sheet, the Court of Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge issued the warrant canceling his bail.

Public Prosecutor Advocate Kamal Uddin Ahmed told banglanews, “The court canceled the bail of Mufti Izharul as he violated the bail condition.”

Earlier on October 7, 2013, three people died in a explosion at a room of a dormitory of Al Jamiatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrasa in port city`s Lalkhan Bazar.

After the incident, police later filed a case under the explosives act with Khulshi Police Station against 12 people.

The law enforcers also filed two more cases – one for killing and the other for preserving acid in the madrasa.
