Indo-Bangla relations never be torn apart

FROM KOTALIPARA, GOPALGANJ: The relations between Bangladesh and India will never be torn apart as they are relatives by blood.

Sandeep Chakravorty, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh came up with the observations on Thursday after inaugurating a girls’ hostel named ‘Progga’, financed by India, for Kazi Montu College in the upazila.

Sandeep Chakravorty said the country, which is lagging behind in women’s education, falls behind. This is why women’s education in Bangladesh should be given more priority.

The India envoy also said his longstanding wish to pay tribute to the grave of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was fulfilled after visiting Tungipara.

He also assured of giving more allowances on education in developing educational institutions in Bangladesh.

Among others, principal of the college Nityananda Biswas, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Collage principal Gouranga Lal Chowdhury, senor teacher Tarani Kanta and freedom fighter Majibul Haque spoke at the program, chaired by Kotalipara upazila chairman Bimal Krishna Biswas.

Earlier at 11:00am in the day, Sandeep Chakravorty reached Kazi Montu College. Students and teachers of the college and locals greeted him at that time.

At 11:15am, the deputy high commissioner inaugurated the hostel for girls by cutting a ribbon.

Sandeep inaugurated another hostel for boys at Bhennabari United School of the upazila at 3:00pm.

Indian government financed Tk 1.62 crore to build a two-storey hostel for girls and a hostel for boys.

Moreover, Kazi Mantu College was established in 1987 in a remote village Bhangarhat of Kotalipara upazila.
